Stambaugh Ness Announces Acquisition of Aecumen, Led by AEC Industry Expert Scott Butcher

Combination Strengthens Firm's National Architectural & Engineering Market Leadership

Scott D. Butcher, FSMPS, CPSM

Stambaugh Ness (SN) announced that it has acquired Aecumen, LLC a marketing and business development consulting firm exclusively serving the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries. Founded by Scott D. Butcher, FSMPS, CPSM, Aecumen provides high-level strategic consulting and training to AEC firms nationally.

A prominent AEC industry leader with over 25 years of experience, Scott joins SN as Director of the firm’s Strategic Growth Advisory Practice. Scott’s deep roots in the AEC industry include serving as Chief Marketing Officer for an AE firm where he led their business development and marketing initiatives. Additionally, Scott is a sought-after national speaker for industry organizations including ACEC, AIA, PSMJ, and SMPS and authors Marketropolis, the sales and marketing blog for the Engineering News-Record website (ENR.com). A Fellow of the Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), Scott served on the SMPS national board of directors and is a former Trustee and President of the SMPS Foundation, a nonprofit research organization serving the AEC industry.

This combination strengthens SN’s position as an Architecture & Engineering (AE) thought leader and the go-to national firm serving the AE industry. Delivering solutions that are anticipatory, products that are innovative, and approaches that focus on transforming businesses, SN serves over 1,000 AE clients nationally in all 50 states with team members in 19.

SN President and Chief Executive Officer Steven L. Hake states, “SN is thrilled to join forces with Scott and leverage his unique combination of deep industry knowledge and marketing and business development expertise. Scott understands firsthand the nuances of running a successful AE firm and will provide clients with meaningful insight and vital future-focused strategies and solutions.”

Scott Butcher, Founder and Principal of Aecumen says, “The opportunity to work with an organization that is equally committed to not only the AE industry but in helping clients drive growth is truly exciting. Through this partnership, we will help firms to bridge critical gaps and position them for accelerated success and a more profitable future.”

In conjunction with this acquisition, SN is launching a new Strategic Growth Advisory practice area which Scott Butcher will lead. This focus area will provide a wide range of high-level consulting services including Outsourced Chief Marketing/Business Development Officer Advisory; Marketing & Business Development Advisory; Strategic Facilitation; and Recruiting. Additionally, clients will be able to customize training and coaching programs that include Seller-Doer, Soft Skills, Proposals, Personal Branding, Marketing & Communications, and Workplace Etiquette.
